Editing might be the most difficult thing to grasp out of all the things that go into creating video content. Almost everywhere I look, whether it’s facebook groups, quora or youtube I see so many questions about editing.
Perhaps that’s because it’s the one part of the process where everything you’ve done (good or bad) comes together. It’s the final step before you have your finished piece, and it requires a combination of left and right brain power to complete.
It’s my goal to help you as you work to tackle video editing, I know it can be difficult when you’re just starting out. Especially with the advancements in technology. But before you can really begin video editing, you’ll need to think about your chosen tools. Having the wrong tools will only make the process more difficult — especially as you advance.
Best Computers For Video Editing
If you’ve ever tried editing video and ran into lagging footage or lack of storage space, then you already understand why you need a good quality computer.
I’ve done some research and have come up with some recommendations, but across the board here are the things that matter most:
- A decent amount of RAM (memory) – You will need a minimum of 8gb but I recommend investing in a computer with 16gb or more
- A strong processor – Aim for the latest generation of CPU that you can get.
- A decent graphics card – Aim for a dedicated GPU
Truthfully, as long as the computer you are considering meets those three criteria you will most likely be okay.
